RJK Middle School wins SCIL Sullivan Cup

Monticello’s RJK Middle School SCIL, Jr. team took first place this year in the Sullivan County Inter-Academic League. The team won the coveted Sullivan Cup trophy by earning the highest combined score for the league's four academic competitions.

The Sullivan Cup was presented to the team May 17 following the last competition of the school year at Hanofee Park in Liberty. At that competition, titled The Amazing Race, students had to use clues to figure out combination locks, dig for treasure, solve sudoku puzzles, build a balloon car or rocket, and compete in a scavenger hunt. The Monticello team placed fourth, but its overall high score earned them the SCIL first-place cup.

The winning participants pictured are Ruben Rebolledo, Nick Burton, Kyle Bennett, Joe Molewski, A J Nittoli, Jackie O’Rourke, Liza Macentee, Caitlin Bonnaci, Shannon Thomas, Briana Slutsky, Latiqua Liles, Charlotte Ference, Virginia Boyd, Dan Cook, Marina Lombardi, Ruby Hong, Matt Young, Jaime Alejandro, Hayley Brennan, Robby Wagner, and Julianna D’Abbraccio, who is missing from the photo. The team is coached by Donna Nestler.
