School Safety Discussed

On January 25, the Monticello Board of Education held a workshop
to discuss the accomplishments of the district schools in their
effort to address safety. Each school principal gave a written
report to the Board members and gave an oral presentation to the
crowd of more than 50 community members on their on-going
efforts to increase safety in their school.
Monticello High
School Principal Arleene Siegel-Lerner, talked about the
emergency drills the school has been conducting, and how
personnel were making every effort to keep the school's 88 doors
locked at all times. RJK Principal Deborah Wood reported on the
addition of three hall monitors to her staff, and how it is now
mandatory for every employee to always wear their ID badge when
on school grounds.

Elementary School Principal Dr. William Greene (pictured)
discussed the school's new buzzer system and how it has helped
staff keep track of every person who enters the building.
Assistant Superintendent Ms. Kathleen Pagano-Fuller, was named
Director of the District Health and Safety Committee and plans
to work with the staff, BOE and community members to address any
remaining issues and to insure that safety remains a top
priority in all the district schools.
