Monticello Central School District residents approved the restructured 2006-07 school district budget by 287 votes. Voter turnout was high for the June 20 budget revote - surpassing the May turnout. The official tally was 1,070 yes votes to 783 no votes.

Voters also passed the proposition to purchase four 72-passenger buses at a cost not to exceed $376,000 by 174 votes. The tally was 1,007 yes votes to 833 no votes.

The revised spending plan of $63,354,365 was developed by the Board of Education and district administrators to make it more affordable to the community. It reduced the tax levy to the current projection of 5.34 percent.
