Board of Education Recognition Awards highlight March meeting

At its March 15 meeting, Monticello Schools’ Board of Education and school officials presented a variety of Recognition Awards to many faculty, staff and students who have excelled in their accomplishments to outstanding proportions.

The RJK Middle School cafeteria was overflowing with well-wishers and the high school’s Women’s Chorus wowed the crowd with a live performance.

Best 100 Communities for Music Education in America:
Monticello Music Department and Director Dr. Kevin Dirth - Linda Van Norman, Nancy Wegrzyn, Joyce Wells, Amy Abraham, Thomas Fadden, Karen Laufersweiler, Snezana Lazich, Peri-Ilene Berman, Dawn Clayton, Aaron Rovitz, Michael Mingo, Ann Trombley and Ellen Alewitz.

Commitment to Excellence:
• Students involved in fundraiser for John Spear’s family – Michael Huges, Emily Billig, Corrin Trombley, Alexis Brinkerhoff, John Lacey, Rebecca Perlman, Katherine Green, Daniel Green, Patrick Bonnaci and Jesse Campanaro.
• Math Counts team and coach Susan Smith – Jesse Kapito, Charlotte Ference, Latiqua Liles, Patrick Ripa, Ruby Hong, Kadeem Ince, Ed Turner and Jared Weiss.

Scholar Athlete Awards:
• Boys Cross Country team and coach Pete Wysochanski – 91.42% average – John Bowens, Brendan Briggs, Brendan Devine, Brendan Ference, Thomas Gonzalez, Dior Jackson and Robert Vendetta.
• Boys Soccer team and coach John Maranzana– 91.41% average – Anthony Aber, Colin Bunce, Darren Fraser, Chris Ketcham, Austin Madnick, Andrew Moss, Jason Pabon, Samuel Sorto, Dennis Stafford, Ishmael Weekes, Matthew Wissman and William Van Hage.
• Girls Tennis team and coach Urvashi Gupta – 94.22% average – Tara Feller, Joanna Goldfarb, Meredith Gray, Gabriella Madina, Ayesha Patel, Carol Philip, Caitlin Van Keuren, Hailey Van Keuren and Ann Joy.
• Girls Cross County team and coach Pete Wysochanski – 95.33% average – Marisela Acevedo, Emma Cohen, Rebecca Concors, Jessica Fingers, Lianna Hollander and Danielle Schnitzer.
• Girls Soccer team and coach Paul David – 96% average – Ebony Andrews, Chelsea Brennan, Christine Bunce, Andrea Drollinger, Katherine Gonzalez, Katy Green, Krisa Manabang, Janelle Slutzky, Satanya Snowden, Caitlyn Stawarz and Te-Neshia Washington.
