Sept. 12, 2017

So, rather than wait for the students to come to them, a group of MCSD administrators, staff, students and of course, the district’s mascot, Monti the Panther went to the students.

The group hopped on to a yellow school bus and rode around Monticello welcoming back students throughout the district, making stops at Monticello Meadows, Evergreen Apartments, Sleepy Hollow Development and even the E.B. Crawford Library on Broadway.

Parents and their children were all smiles as the Monticello cheer team stomped and clapped out songs of Panther Pride and staff doled out water bottles, hugs and other Monticello swag.

Later on the same day, the district hosted its annual “Panther Pride Welcome Back BBQ” on the Monticello High School football field. Families flocked to the school enjoy a complimentary barbeque, vendor booths, giveaways and the first football game of the season.
