Passport event at Monticello High School March 15 is open to the public

passportThe Monticello Central School District Is partnering with the Jeffersonville Post Office this Thursday, March 15, to provide passport application services to the public.

And this timely event could save you money. The execution fee for new passport applications is increasing $10 on April 2.

Jeffersonville Post Office personnel will be at the high school from 5 to 7 p.m. to process passport applications. Here is what you need to know before coming:

Costs
For those applying for a passport for the first time the fees are:
    Age 16 and older: Passport fee - $110, Execution fee - $25, Photo fee - $15 – total: $150
    Age 15 and under: Passport fee - $80, Execution fee - $25, Photo fee - $15 – total: $120
    For all passport renewals, the Passport fee is $110 plus the photo fee of $15 for a total of $125.

Documents you must bring
In order to process passport applications, the following documents are needed:
    Original birth certificate with raised seal and both parents listed
    Proof of identity (driver’s license, New York State identification card, passport)

Additional information
When applying for a passport for minors under 16 years of age, both parents need to be present with proof of identity. A 16-year-old with proof of identity may apply for a passport with one parent present.
Blank passport applications and renewal forms will be available at the event but you can save time by going to www.travel.state.gov, completing them online and printing them out. All forms must be completed with black ink.
Only cash and checks are accepted for processing.

Routine processing of passport applications takes about six weeks. Expedited service is available for an additional fee.
