Boys’ basketball team supporting the fight against cancer

Feb. 5, 2018

On Friday night, the Monticello boys’ varsity basketball team participated in the 10th annual Sullivan County BCANY (Basketball Coaches Association of New York) vs. Cancer Classic at SUNY Sullivan. This two-day event featured five high school games and two college games. All proceeds from the classic are donated to the Oncology Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center. To date, the event has raised more than $30,000 in the fight against cancer, and this year we raised more than $5,000. It is not too late to donate, see Coach Russo if you would like to increase our total – every penny counts! A collage of photos of the Monticello boys basketball team playing in the tournament

The Panthers defeated their Sullivan County rival, the Liberty Indians, 57-52.

Alberto Florez had 23 points including five 3-pointers, Josh Gattling had 16 points, and Dameion Nedd added 7 points. It was a great team effort and the guys showed great focus, spirit, and resiliency throughout the game.

Monticello travels to Cornwall Tuesday. JV game at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m. Our next home game is Friday, Feb. 9, against Red Hook. Come out and cheer on the Panthers.
