Champion hugger is the employee of the month
The KLR Employee of the Month Award for December is someone that is kindness personified. She is loved by students and staff alike, is always upbeat, smiling, a champion hug giver and an overall bright spot in the day. She is a constant ray of sunshine and always supportive. Staff and students say they are so lucky to have her in their building. The KLR Employee of the Month for December is Eileen Lehrfeld.

A warming empathy project
Every month at KLR, a different grade level is responsible for spearheading an empathy project. This month the kindergarten classes attempted to bring some warmth to the students at KLR with the Mitten Tree. The Mitten Tree is located in the school lobby and stocked (and restocked by the kindergarteners) with mittens, hats and scarves for those who need them. At Fun Friday, the kindergarteners sang a song about a snowman who wore many of the items that can be found on the KLR Mitten Tree.
