Three
Monticello High School senior students, Autum Bivins, Raheem
Brown and Na-eelah Shackelford, were honored at the
inaugural Mid-Hudson Region Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s
Teacher’s (TSTT) Recognition Ceremony. The program,
coordinated by Regional Program Manager, Aleta Lymon,
enables students who are interested in a future in education
to explore different aspects and areas of teaching while
developing leadership and life-ready skills.
The founder of the program, Betty Perkins beamed with pride as she addressed the students, who represented Monticello, Fallsburg and Ellenville, at the ceremony.
“We have a lot to celebrate today,” she said.
Guest speakers included New York State Regent Josephine Finn, Senator John Bonacic and Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, all of whom wished the students luck as they move into the next chapter on their life’s journey.
“Dream big and take action,” Regent Finn said, addressing
the students. “Remember to fall on your back so that you
always look up to know where you’re going.
