A message from the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library:
Does your child need practice with reading? Do they simply love animals? The library is bringing reading practice and adorable animals together in a new program called Tales with Tai! Tai is a therapy dog who will visit the library once a month and boy, does he love to hear stories. Children grades K-5 can sign up to take turns reading their favorite books to Tai. Our first session will be Wednesday, April 19 at 4 p.m. Children in grades K-2 will read from 4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and children in grades 3-5 will read from 4:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. This is a great way for children to build fluency, practice sight words, and build confidence in their reading.
This is a free program but space is limited, so registration is required. For more information or to register for the program call the children’s room at 845-794-4660 ext. 9.
The Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library will also host a Maker Space event on Friday, April 21, from 4:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. A Maker Space is a DIY space where people can gather to create, invent, and learn. It is a great opportunity to play with new technology, make cool crafts, and get creative. Children and teens ages 10-18 will have the opportunity to build with StrawBees, learn basic electrical programming with Little Bits, make their drawing come to life using 3D Doodler Pens, create a cool light-up LED bookmark, and see our 3D printer in action. This is a drop in program, so participants can stop by for a few minutes or stay for the two hours. Our MakerSpace events are free and do not require registration.
The Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library is located at 479 Broadway in Monticello. For more information on library programs, check out our calendar of events at www.ebcrawfordlibrary.org, follow the library on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter @ebcplibrary, or call the library at 845-794-4660.
