Families celebrate reading during Family Literacy Night

 a student holds up a project during family literacy night Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School’s (KLR) held a  Family Literacy Night to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Many families took part in different teacher-led activities as they heard favorite Dr. Seuss books.

The evening ended with a gallery walk of the winning Women in STEM writing contest projects. Our first place winners were: Brielle D, Ella W, Liam B, Mrs. Mentnech’s First Graders and Mrs. PuaPuaga and Mrs. Mastrogiovanni’s First Grade class. Second place winners were: Hanna C, Unique M, Lyana G, and Miss Schoonmaker’s Kindergarten class. Third place winners were: Sophia V, David C, Kaitlyn M, Judah B, and Taylor C. Mason C. received the Inspiration Award and Giana B. received Honorable Mention.

A special thanks to the local businesses who provided prizes for our student winners: Giovanni’s Subs and Pizzeria, Siena’s Pizza, Papa Luke’s Pizzeria, Sorella’s Pizzeria, Colosseo’s Pizzeria, Dunkin Donuts of Jefferson Street, Rock Hill Pharmacy and Jeff Bank. The students were pleased with their medals and prizes.
