At its Jan. 19 meeting, the Monticello Central School District’s Board of Education approved the appointment of Rosemarie (Roe) Romano as principal of George L. Cooke Elementary School, effective Sept. 1, 2017.
Ms. Romano, who is a long-time employee of the district, and has worked in many different positions, currently serves as assistant principal of Cooke Elementary. She will succeed current Principal, Sandra Johnson-Fields, who will retire at the close of the school year.
“We are extremely excited about continuing the excellence realized at Cooke these past few years in terms of student growth and outcomes,” Superintendent of Schools, Tammy Mangus said. “Ms. Romano will help keep the momentum going with her amazing Cooke teammates. I wish much success to the entire Cooke team, including teachers and all support staff. I know Ms. Romano will make a great coach.”
