Robert J. Kaiser Middle School will welcome new principal in the fall

June 22, 2016nick millas will be the new principal of RJK

When Robert J. Kaiser Middle School students return to classes in September, there will be a new face there to greet them. Nick Millas will begin his new position as principal of RJK in August 2016.

Currently the principal of secondary special education and alternative education at Sullivan County BOCES, Mr. Millas joins the district with seven years of administrative experience, including five years as the director of athletics, health and physical education in the Onteora Central School District.

In his time at Sullivan County BOCES, he’s had the opportunity to work closely with the MCSD and was impressed with the district’s data-driven approach to education, vision and culture.

“There’s a lot of collegiality and collaboration in Monticello,” Mr. Millas said. “People aren’t afraid of taking a risk and trying new things – there’s a climate of innovation where creative ideas are nurtured.”

He’s most excited to meet the district’s students and their families, and to work with the faculty in setting up the coming school year.

When he’s not working, he enjoys watching his children participate in athletic events, going to the theater, playing golf and fishing. He also enjoys traveling with his family, particularly to the St. Lawrence River.

“I am very excited to welcome Mr. Millas to our district,” Superintendent Tammy Mangus said. “I am confident that his background, enthusiasm and leadership will continue to help our students achieve great things.”
