May 18, 2016

Children are jumping for joy at the Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School because their new learning playground is nearly complete.

Be among the first to see the new learning playground at Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School, made possible by the Leadership Sullivan Class of 2016.

Leadership Sullivan is a not-for-profit corporation that enhances the knowledge and workings of Sullivan County among individuals, local business and the community. Each year, Leadership Sullivan conducts a 10-month leadership training program for local residents.

Participants receive training on topics important to Sullivan County residents and businesses including education, health and human services, government and politics, economic development, leadership development and the justice system.

According to its website, the Leadership Sullivan training program enables community members to better understand challenges facing Sullivan County and, therefore, better serve our community.

As part of the Leadership Sullivan program, each class develops and implements a project based on community need. This year, they decided to donate their time and efforts to create an interactive learning playground at the Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School.

Colorful and inviting, the interactive learning playground is designed to facilitate creativity as children absorb information through play.
