From January through early April, the board reviewed and fine-tuned the draft budget so that it would be reflective of its annual goals related to education and resident feedback regarding educational priorities and school taxes.

The budget proposal being presented to the community supports the Monticello Board of Education’s long term goals to ensure academic success of all students, maintain fiscal responsibility, enhance district facilities and cultivate an atmosphere of respect and kindness throughout the district.

Voters will also select from seven candidates to fill three open seats on the Monticello Board of Education. The candidates, listed in ballot order, are:

  • John Kiefer
  • Matthew Sheiner
  • Lori Orestano-James
  • Steve Kurlander
  • Kamal Elsayed

A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for May 5, and district residents will vote on the budget May 17.
