On February 17, Dr. Joseph D’Abbraccio, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), graduate of Monticello High School and the Academy of Finance and AOF Advisory Board member, visited MHS and the Business Entrepreneur classes.

Dr. D’Abbraccio explained a multiple of topics to the students regarding starting and running your own business and preceded this with an introduction of his background, the expenses and time commitment he made to become a DVM. This included the positive aspects of being your own boss, how he works to maintain client retention, as well as the challenges of being a boss.

Dr. D’Abbraccio informed the students he treats all animals and is not a specialist, as some DVM’s are and he related many stories of his interactions with his clients and his patients which the students found interesting as well as enlightening. This included a detailed discussion of how a dairy farm is managed and the types of modern equipment he uses.

The students gave Dr. D’Abbraccio a thankful round of applause when he completed his talk.
