Monticello High School academic and athletic stand out Shaun Jackson has officially announced that he plans to continue his sports career in college next fall at Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA, the birthplace of Night Football.

Mansfield University has fielded a varsity football team since 1981 playing as a member of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Divisions II and II and as of 2008, the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL.) In August, Shaun will trade his blue and white for red and black and will begin training with the school’s sprint football team.

Simply put, sprint football is a varsity football program for the average-size American male. The sport features the same rules as regular college football, with one exception: every player must weigh 172 pounds or less.
Other teams in this the CSFK include Army West Point, Navy University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Franklin Pierce, Post, Princeton and Chestnut Hill.

Shaun, who is ranked 53rd in this class, said he had a very tough decision to make. He was accepted to several colleges, but chose Mansfield University because it felt “right at home.”

“The coaching staff treated my family and I like first-class,” he said. “I also had the chance meet the head of the Biology Department. Everything at Mansfield seemed like the perfect fit and I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career there.”
