Important notice about snow “give back” days

Feb. 22, 2016

When snow days are not used, the district “gives them back” by closing school on days that were originally scheduled to have school in session. Although Monticello Central School District has seven snow days built into the schedule for the 2015-2016 school year, as of Feb. 22, we have used two.

While no one can accurately predict what the winter has in store for us, at this point it seems likely that we will not require all of the remaining snow days.

By Apr. 22, 2016*:
• If there are five snow days unused, school will be closed for students on Apr. 25 and Apr. 26.
• If there are three or four snow days unused, school will be closed for students on Apr. 25.

After Apr. 22, 2016:
All additional unused snow days past April 22 will be given back in the following order:
• If there are three snow days remaining, school will be closed for students May 25, 26 and 27.
• If there are two snow days remaining, school will be closed for students May 26 and 27.
• If there is one snow day remaining, school will be closed for students on May 27.

* Please note that in the event additional days are needed for inclement weather at any time for the remainder of the school year, some of the dates listed above will remain as regular school days and your child will need to be in attendance at school. Additional information will be available on the district’s website, www.monticelloschools.net if any necessary changes are made.
