Fire in Wurtsboro Hills affects district transportation routes

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.)

The district has just received word that the fire has been put out and the roads are cleared for safety.

 All Chase Elementary School students have been picked up by their parents; the remaining middle and high school students will be transported home via bus at 4:30 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY (4 P.M.)

 At approximately 1:30 p.m., the Wurtsboro Fire Department notified the district that a fire in Wurtsboro Hills occurred, affecting the district’s ability to transport home approximately 50 middle and high school students and 52 Chase Elementary School students.

The district has called the affected parents to let them know that they can pick up their children at their respective schools.

At 4:30 p.m., the remaining middle and high school students will be transported to Chase Elementary School, where they will wait for a parent or guardian to pick them up.

All students will be provided with a snack as they wait to be picked up.
