Officer Phil visits Chase Elementary School

Oct. 28, 2015

Earlier this month, the Monticello Police Department brought Officer Phil and Buddy the Bulldog to Chase Elementary School to talk about the importance of obeying safety rules set by parents and society.

Officer Phil went over a variety of safety scenarios in an easy to understand puppet show.

The Officer Phil safety program is designed teach children about stranger danger, the negative effects of bullying, fire safety, internet safety and respect for authority figures. He also encouraged positive behavior like honesty, friendship, being a buddy not a bully, civic responsibility and knowing what to do in an emergency just to name a few.

To reinforce what students learned in the live presentation, they were given a grade specific activity book and other interactive materials to take home to work on with their parents or guardians and teachers throughout the year.
