Community volunteers sought to serve on district Facilities Committee

The Monticello Central School District is presently seeking interested community representatives to serve on a district Facilities Committee. The Facilities Committee will be comprised of Board of Education members, district staff and administrators in addition to community representatives, and will be assisted by the architectural firm of Savin Engineers.

At its Sept. 3 meeting, the Monticello Board of Education authorized the establishment of the Facilities Committee, which will be responsible for the planning of capital needs and the recommendation of future building projects to the board.

The Facilities Committee will meet for the purpose of presenting to the Board of Education a report with recommendations to address short and long-term facilities improvements. Discussions will emphasize but not be limited to the infrastructure needs of all school buildings, instructional technology, and health, safety and security.

The committee is expected to meet once a month from Oct. 2015 through Oct. 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. The district is seeking four parent/community representatives who would be willing to commit to serve on the committee for a three year term.

In addition to studying the district facilities and making recommendations to the Board of Education, the members of this committee will also incorporate individual building maintenance concerns as per the district’s Building Condition Survey and Five Year Capital Plan into their proposals presented to the Board of Education.

All applications will be reviewed by the Board of Education and Facilities Committee Chair. Community members will be notified of the committee’s selection in October.
