Monticello Panthers win Babe Ruth title

The Monticello Panthers recently won the Middletown Babe Ruth League Championship in the 15- to 16-year-old division by going 16-0 in the regular season and 4-1 in the two rounds of playoffs.

The Panthers, a Sullivan County Youth League Team, finished 20-1. Although this team is not affiliated with the Monticello Central School District, many of the players attend Monticello High School.

“This is the best team and group of young men I ever coached in my 35 years of coaching and they deserve to be recognized,’’ Panthers coach Kevin McCarthy said.

The Panthers consisted of Kevin McCarthy; DeAndre Bowen; Parth Patel; Parth S. Patel; Mario Cuadrado; Rup Patel; Chris Mosher; Thomas Decker; Onyxx Clarke; Scott Hughes; Adam Blakesley; Dhruv Patel; and Jaque Goodrich. The coaches were Kevin McCarthy, Jim Blakesley, Craig Mosher and Tom Decker.
