Academy of Finance seniors present at year-end dinner

June 10, 2015

On May 13, the Academy of Finance (AOF) students met at Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant in Rock Hill with classmates, family members, school district administration and supporters of the AOF to share what they accomplished during their time in the Academy.

senior Academy of Finance dinnerAlthough it may have been a nerve racking task for some of the students to speak in front of an audience of over 100 people, the speeches detailing their academic, personal, and career growth throughout their two years in the Academy were presented with confidence. Parents and guardians were pleased and proud to see how their child blossomed from their AOF experience. Local businessmen and women showed their support of this program by attending the dinner. Many are active in the program, providing internships and/or volunteer as mentors for the students.

This dinner gave students the time to share with each supporter and mentor the benefits of the program and what a service it was for them to be a part of it. Although currently a two year program, the presentation from the students proved it worthy of expansion to a three or four year program.

"As a student of the Academy of Finance, I had the opportunity to work on my confidence" says Precious Ellis.

Pria Budhram commented that "the AOF is very beneficial and I would recommend it to anyone. It has helped me grow as a person personally and academically in many ways. This program is great for students who think that they love business and for students who feel that they have no clue on what to do in the future. It will open their eyes and broaden their horizons to things they thought weren't an option."
