On Friday,  May 1, the students in the Financial Accounting class traveled to the Big Apple to spend the day at the New York State Society of CPAs and CohnReznick, the eleventh largest accounting firm in the world.

While at the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter of the NYSSCPA,  students engaged in a fun game of accounting jeopardy, watched a mock interview, and listened to multiple guest speakers’ talk about their journey to becoming a CPA and the different fields of the finance world. Students also recieved advice from the guest speakers regarding achieving financial stability and comfort.

After spending the morning at the NYSSCPA students boarded the subway and traveled to CohnReznick, the 11th largest accounting firm in the world. At CohnReznick, students watched a presentation on the services that CohnReznick offers its employees. Afterwards a panel of four employees answered questions about what their jobs entitled, what their favorite part of their job is, and how they ended up at the firm.

Before leaving CohnReznick, students were given a tour of the offices so that they could see what a typical accounting firm looks like. Overall, the day was a success. The students learned a great deal and got to experience the world of finance in the economic capital of the world.
