Monticello musicians participate in annual NYSSMA Festival

more than 100 monticello students prepare and perform music on may  8 and 9

May 11, 2015

More than 100 students from the Monticello Central School District Music Department participated in the Annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo and Small Ensemble Festival held on May 8 and 9 at Sullivan West High School. Students from the band, chorus, orchestra, guitar and piano programs prepared selections and were evaluated on their performances by certified music adjudicators. The adjudicators also provided feedback to students.

The process used is very similar to a college audition or professional audition, and students are able to use this feedback as part of their college/employment applications and academic portfolio. In addition, the evaluation is used as an audition for students for All County, Area All State, NYSSMA All State and NAfME National Band, Chorus and Orchestra participation.
