Cooke students learn the true meaning of Veterans Day

November 18, 2014

What is Veterans Day?

That was the question asked by George L. Cooke School first grade students. U.S Air Force Staff Sargent Kenneth Tauber was invited to come in to the Cooke School to explain.

"A veteran is a person who has served in the military," Sgt. Tauber explained. We celebrate Veteran’s day to honor, and pay our respect to all the men and women who have served our country."

Sargent Tauber also taught the student’s about the different branches of the military including the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and the Navy.  One student asked “Why do you wear camouflage clothes”? Sargent Tauber replied, “The clothes provide unity."

George L. Cooke Elementary School would like to thank all the men and women who are serving our country and protecting our freedom!
