Students jump for heart health.Chase students jump rope for heart health

Students from Emma C. Chase Elementary School are doing their part to fight heart disease.

This month, students took their turn jumping rope and playing games during the school’s fourth annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser.Students jump for heart health.

The event raises money for the American Heart Association, which funds lifesaving heart and stroke research and community and educational programs for youth.

Physical education teacher Tamara Coney first caught wind of the event six years ago. While the event serves to promote awareness and to help contribute to the cure, she says it also encourages students to live healthy lifestyles.

Students jump for heart health.This year, Chase raised $6366.00, well over their original goal of $5500.00.

The top fundraisers were rewarded by dumping a bucket of ice water on a faculty member of their choice.
