Monticello Kiwanis Club distributes chapter books to Rutherford second graders

Organization donates books to encourage summer reading

June 25, 2014

The Monticello Kiwanis Club recently visited the second grade classes at the Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School. During the school year, the students were introduced to reading chapter books so they were very excited when they were advised that the Kiwanis Club was presenting each one of them with a chapter book for their summer reading pleasure.

Students were encouraged to read aloud to their friends and family members, as well as for the enjoyment of their pets. Doris Motl, retired Rutherford Elementary School teacher and Kiwanis member, organized this event.
