Academy of Finance juniors receive career advice from banking professional

AOF board member shares work experience with students

May 6, 2014

Monticello High School’s Academy of Finance board member, John Veleber, vice president of Jeff Bank, visited the AOF juniors during their financial services class to provide valuable insight as to what it takes to be successful in the financial industry.

He shared several of his work experiences with the students and explained how networking is important as they begin to pursue their careers. Mr. Veleber talked about working in New York City and how exciting it was to be a part of the finance world. The students were very interested in learning about the Federal Reserve Bank, working on Wall Street, and the different aspects of lending money to businesses.

Perhaps the most important message Mr. Veleber relayed to the students was “always do your best.” The students felt very motivated to work hard and strive for success in all of their endeavors after hearing Mr. Veleber’s presentation.
