RJK Middle School to host Interactive Common Core Experience for parents on Tuesday, Feb. 11

January 23, 2014

E.P.I.C. (Every Person Influences Children) and RJK Middle School invite parents to a Common Core Parent Night (An Interactive Common Core Experience) on Tuesday, February 11 from 6-8p.m. (snow date, Wednesday, February 12).

Two 40-minute sessions in ELA & math will demonstrate how instruction has shifted due to the implementation of Common Core Learning Standards and will follow the modules used to teach these subjects. You'll experience a lesson in ELA and math as your child does each day at school. Between each session, there will be a 10-minute break, and a question and answer session with district administration, RJK administrative team as well as the session presenters will close the evening.

The RJK PTA and EPIC will provide refreshments, served by members of the Junior National Honor Society and the PTA will host the Scholastic Book Fair in the RJK lobby (don’t forget to enter the raffle!).

Middle school students are invited to browse the book fair and participate in a Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Challenge. PBIS merits can be earned for participation in the challenge.

We hope that you can join us for this informative experience. Questions? Contact RJK Middle School at 845-796-3058 or email to rperez@k12mcsd.net.
