Garden-to table snacks featured at Cooke

homegrown sunflower seeds on the menu this week!

November 13, 2013

The G.L. Cooke Elementary students have grown lots of vegetables, including sunflowers, in the “Little Sprouts Garden." Teaching Assistant and Garden Coordinator Rachel McBride had some help from two of Colleen Belgiovene’s classroom students to pick the sunflowers. After they picked the sunflowers and dried the flower heads, the seeds were taken out and presented to the ladies in the cafeteria.

The ladies in the Cooke school cafeteria will roast the seeds and will be serving them during lunch this week.

Well done “Little Sprouts!”
