Monticello Central School District Tax Warrant Approved by the Board of Education

Tax Rates calculated for property owners in five towns

September 7, 2012

District residents will receive their school tax bills during the month of September.

In May 2012, residents approved the $77,384,789 budget for the 2012-2013 school year. The 2012-2013 budget represents a decrease of <.08> percent from the 2011-2012 budget and projected a tax levy increase of 2 percent.

The final Tax Rate was determined in August and the Board of Education approved the tax warrant at its August 23 meeting.

The final Tax Rate increase for each town within the district is listed below:

Town of Bethel Tax Rate decrease is -1.42%

Town of Fallsburg Tax Rate decrease is -3.28%

Town of Forestburgh Tax Rate increase is .40%

Town of Mamakating Tax Rate increase is 2.61%

Town of Thompson Tax Rate increase is 3.64%

Below is the projected dollar amount tax bill increase for a a home assessed at $100,000 based on the above percentages:

$100,000 home in the Town of Bethel will see a tax bill increase of approximately $40

$100,000 home in the Town of Fallsburg will see a tax bill decrease of approximately $95

$100,000 home in the Town of Mamakating will see a tax bill increase of approximately $71

$100,000 home in the Town of Thompson will see a tax bill increase of approximately $75

Since homes in the Town of Forestburgh have not been reassessed in many years, their tax rate increase is based on a home assessed at $20,000.

$20,000 home in the Town of Forestburgh will see a tax bill increase of approximately $14
