New Director of English Language Arts, Social Studies and Library Science Appointed: Donna Bushey

Donna Bushey with Superintendent Daniel Teplesky and Assistant Superintendent Tammy MangusAt its August 9 meeting, the Monticello Central School District Board of Education appointed Donna Bushey as the new director of English language arts, social studies and library science. Ms. Bushey will begin in her new position on September 10 at a salary of $99,500.

“My many years in teaching and administration have provided me with extensive knowledge and experience in the multiple areas this position requires,” said Ms. Bushey. “I look forward to sharing my expertise with my Monticello colleagues as we continue to implement the Common Core and Regents Reform initiatives.”

Ms. Bushey currently serves as the Race to the Top network team leader for the Sullivan County BOCES. Prior to BOCES, she worked as the assistant superintendent and acting superintendent for the Malone Central School District. She also served as an elementary school principal in both the Gouverneur and Delhi school districts. In addition to working as an elementary school classroom teacher, Ms. Bushey taught social studies and reading for more than a decade.

Ms. Bushey received her certificate in educational administration from SUNY Brockport, and a Master of Science in Reading Education and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY Oswego. She is certified by NY State as a school district administrator, reading teacher, social studies teacher and elementary school teacher.

Ms. Bushey lives in Monticello with her husband, Rodney. They have four children, Makesha, Micah, Dylan and Lyndsie.
