Congratulations to Ann Trombley and Wendy Levinson, who were recently named Outstanding Educators by the Sullivan County School Boards Association. Honored at a dinner on May 29, both women have made significant contributions to the Monticello Central School District during their combined 50+ years of service.

Ann Trombley has been a music educator at Monticello for 28 years and currently serves as Head Music Teacher for grades 6-12. Credited with helping the district earn the distinction of being named to the top 100 Communities for Music Education, Trombley has worked tirelessly to preserve the integrity and success of Monticello music programs.

She also serves as a member curriculum committee for NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) as well as former Sullivan County President for S.C.M.E.A. (Sullivan County Music Educators Association).

Wendy LevinsonWendy Levinson has taught at Monticello for 31 years and now serves in the role of Head Teacher for Grades 6-12 Business and Family Consumer Sciences. Levinson is credited with developing the Academy of Finance, a two-year application-only program at MHS that teaches financial literacy and education.

Levinson was also involved in the development of VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), a service offered by Academy of Finance students that provides free income tax preparation for middle and low-income individuals and families. VITA and the Academy of Finance program were recently featured in an article published in the Wall Street Journal.

Reflecting on both Trombley and Levinson's retirements this year, Monticello High School Principal Lori Orestano-James remarked that, "truly great educators possess teaching artistry. They transfer not only their knowledge, but also model character and integrity in their commitment to the students, faculty, staff and community. Monticello High School and the entire school community were fortunate to have such wonderful educational leaders and they will be greatly missed."

The annual Outstanding Educator and Outstanding Friend to Education awards are sponsored by the Sullivan County School Boards Association. The award is given to individuals who have made a significant impact on education for the children within their specific district.

Congratulations to two truly outstanding teachers and thank you for your devoted service to the students of MCSD!
