KLR student collects books for Sandy Hook Elementary School

Melody Carillo LockwoodFebruary 12, 2013

Melody Carillo Lockwood, a student at Rutherford Elementary School, wanted to show the students at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, that she cared. As an International Baccalaureate candidate school, KLR encourages students to take action by going above and beyond their school learning to include socially responsible attitudes and to create social impact. That is exactly what Melody did.

She organized a book drive to collect books for the Sandy Hook students. When she has completed the collection, she hopes donors will help to get them shipped to the Newtown school.
