Monticello Central School District Elementary Summer Learning Academy

August 2012

During the summer, the Monticello Central School District held a Summer Learning Academy for Cooke, Rutherford and Chase Elementary School students.

More than 200 students attended the Academy, which began on July 9 and ended August 7.

As part of their studies, fourth grade students learned about endangered species.

David Stewart from Animal Alley Productions, volunteered his professional expertise and treated the students to an up-close look at several endangered animals from his collection.

Students enjoyed a performance titled, "Adventures by The Book," presented by Fogarty Entertainment.

This performance was an action-packed children's musical with puppetry, songs and interactive storytelling.

The performance was sponsored by the Chase PTO, Cooke-Rutherford PTO, EPIC, Monticello Rotary and Monticello Kiwanis Clubs.
