AOF juniors learn about banking career from bank vice president

Banker John Veleber with AOF studentsJohn Veleber, Vice President/Commercial Loan Officer of Jeff Bank, recently spoke to eleventh grade students in the Academy of Finance about his banking career.

In addition to discussing commercial loans, Veleber traced his Wall Street career as a banker and trader to his career as a commercial lender in Sullivan County.

The AOF students recently studied various commercial funding options in class. Veleber reinforced the criteria that he and other lenders use to determine if a business would be eligible for a loan. He spoke of the risks a banker takes when lending money, especially during these economic times.

The students were able to see how an individual applies economic and financial knowledge in a career that assists businesses and our community as a whole.
