The group set a goal of raising $2,500 to purchase the backboards. The group's coaches led the fundraising efforts and with the help of the children, parents and grandparents as well as a large donation from the Vietnam Veterans Lodge 1266, they were able to reach their goal. The backboards were recently installed and are greatly appreciated by the Chase School community.

The Town of Mamakating Youth Basketball is a non-profit group founded in 2005 to keep children busy in the winter when there are few sports for children to participate in. Coaches John Moul, Gary Cannonier, Lynn Lilley and Tom McCreery have already set a new goal and are working toward purchasing new volleyball equipment for the school.
