10/12/12 - Monticello CSD's peanut butter has officially been deemed safe to consume by the OGS and USDA - long live the PB&J! Peanut butter products will once again be served beginning October 15.

NOTICE: Sale of Peanut Butter Products Halted in all Schools

October 10, 2012

As a precaution, Monticello CSD is complying with a communication from the NY State Office of General Services (OGS) instructing schools to stop serving peanut butter until the OGS receives further clarification from the USDA regarding the recall of peanut butter products produced by Sunland, Inc. The Centers for Disease Control and U.S. Food and Drug Administration are investigating Salmonella outbreaks in multiple states that appear to be related to peanut butter. For more info about the recalled products, CLICK HERE.

Monticello lunch manager Chef Andrew Yeomans confirmed that our schools have none of the recalled products, but is halting the sale of all peanut butter products as a precaution until we hear more from the OGS. Children who normally purchase a "PB & J" sandwich will be offered alternate items.
