Former teacher and coach - David Holland - honored with BOE award

David Holland with Superintendent and Board PresidentFormer Monticello Central School District physical education teacher and coach David Holland was recently honored by the Board of Education for his hard work and commitment to the multiple generations of students he taught.

Mr. Holland's generosity and friendship with a fellow colleague helped him make the decision to retire in July 2010 after 39 years with the district. That decision allowed the younger teacher to keep his job.

The BOE award plaque acknowledged the altruistic nature of Mr. Holland's decision with its inscription, as follows:

“A single act of kindness, like a stone thrown in a pond, sends rings of ripples outward that travel far beyond; and joining other ripples flow outward to the sea; A single act of kindness affects eternity.”
