Breast Cancer Fundraisers Help Support Research for a Cure

October 17, 2011

RJK Middle School attendance officer Kim Rock spearheaded the annual Basket of Hope raffle as one of the many ways she aligns herself with others in the fight against breast cancer. Ms. Rock, who is a breast cancer survivor, also participates with her team “Kidrock” in the Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Woodbury Commons.

When asked what advice she would give others who are battling cancer, Ms. Rock shared the words she lives by, “A strong mental attitude can cure better than any miracle drug.”

This year, Ms. Rock and her team of 60 raised $738, which will go toward cancer research. The winner of the basket raffle was substitute teacher Kathy Walker. The final tally of donations from team Kidrock supporters was $1.828.

Many thanks to all members of the school community who supported this effort. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
