Superintendent of Schools Daniel A. Teplesky welcomed Hall of Distinction and National Honor Society inductees during a heartfelt ceremony held at Monticello High School's Arnold Packer Hughes Auditorium on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Twenty-seven high school students were inducted into the National Honor Society and 10 successful Monticello graduates or former employees were welcomed into the inaugural Hall of Distinction. Inductees shared wonderful stories of their days in Monticello and offered words of encouragement to current students.
"This event was so much more than just an awards ceremony," said Superintendent Teplesky. "This event was a celebration of amazing people who are leaving a legacy of greatness in their path. By combining the Hall of Distinction with the National Honor Society induction, we could truly see our past and our future in one room. This district was built on greatness and our future looks just as bright," he added.
The Hall of Distinction was established in 2012 by the Board of Education as a way to honor graduates or attendees who have made a lasting and outstanding contribution to society upon graduating or leaving the Monticello Central School District. Former teachers and staff members whose professionalism and commitment went above and beyond standard expectations were also recognized.
