Safety suggestions for Halloween
Return to parenting info
Nothing would take the "fun" out of Halloween more
than a serious accident. Please go over these safety rules with
Trick or Treaters before they go out.
- Competent adult supervision must be provided
- Know the neighborhood--give it a pre-check
- Never trick or treat alone
- Take weather conditions into consideration
- Set a time limit
- DO NOT EAT ANY UNSEALED OR UNWRAPPED FOOD OR CANDIES OR
FRUIT
- Instruct children not to go into homes/apartments
- Keep away from strange animals
- Follow the rules of pedestrian safety--Don't depend on
others to watch out for your safety.
- SAFE COSTUMING: Material should be flameproof and only
fire-resistant paper should be used. Colors should be light
and should contain reflective material or tape. If
Jack-O-Lanterns are carried, light it with a flashlight and
not a candle. Costumes should be the right size and
length to avoid tripping.
- When walking along the road, carry a flashlight.
