Return to parenting information

Need a GED (High School Diploma)?
Want to help your children with their education?
Even Start could be the program for your family!

The Even Start Family Literacy Program provides home and center-based services for families with children under the age of eight. The program's family educators assist adults to reach their educational goals, such as a GED or high school diploma through home visits and connecting parents to adult education classes or distance learning.

  • Even Start provides a GED class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. John St. Education Center (the former Monticello Middle School)
  • Transportation and childcare is available to Even Start families
  • Even Start works with schools to support what is happening in the classroom and help parents to be valuable partners in their children's learning.
  • The program provides a four-week summer camp for children ages 3-7.

All Even Start services are free to eligible families.

For more information, please call Sullivan County BOCES, Educational Support Services, 794-4405, ext. 300
