School Violence and At-Risk Behavior

September 2, 2006

Dear Parents:

As part of our School Safety Plan, we are providing parents with helpful information related to school violence and at-risk behavior. This information is taken from The New York State Education Department’s on-line resources for parents. If you are interested in reviewing these resources, please use the following website: http://www.emsc.nysed.gov. Once there, click on Parent Resources and then click on General Resources.

Attached you will find two articles from the State Education Department which are a guide for parents in identifying if a child may be at risk in regards to substance abuse or violent
behavior.

If you have concerns about your child and would like help from the school, please contact your child’s teacher, guidance counselor, or the building principal. We would be happy to be a
resource for you in this effort.

Sincerely,

Dr. Patrick Michel
Superintendent of Schools
