Monticello Schools: New Board of Education Member Appointed
December 2010
Members of the Monticello Central School District Board of
Education unanimously selected Cathleen Doherty to fill its
vacant seat. Ms. Doherty is a Town of Bethel resident, a
Monticello High School alumna (Class of 1990) and was an active
parent volunteer at the former Cornelius Duggan Elementary
School in
White Lake.
“I am looking forward to serving the Monticello School community
and working with the other Board members as we make informed
decisions about the educational process of our children,” said
Ms. Doherty after her swearing in ceremony at Monticello’s
administrative offices.
Ms. Doherty’s appointment will be for a term of approximately
five months and will end on May 17, 2011. If she wishes to
complete the remainder of the term for her appointed seat, which
ends on June 30, 2012, she must file a petition and run for
election in May 2011 along with any other interested candidates.
According to Board President Susan Purcell, Ms. Doherty was
chosen from a pool of seven “highly qualified candidates.” Ms.
Purcell also expressed that the Board members were happy to see
so many community members interested and enthusiastic about
serving on the Board.
"We welcome Ms. Doherty as our newest member and very much look
forward to working with her on the Board," said Ms. Purcell.
