Employment opportunities in the Monticello Central School District

High School
The following position is effective July 1, 2008:

  • Literacy Specialist for Monticello High School Achievement Center (A.C.E.S.) - grades 9-12
    Requirements: DUAL CERTIFICATION: Reading Specialist, K-12 and, ELA 7-12 and/or Special Education, K-12. Deliver direct instruction using a strength-based approach to provide students with literacy strategies they can use successful in school and in life.
    Responsibilities and Skills:
      • Diagnose and prescribe intense reading and writing interventions
      • Support College-in-the-Classroom students with critical reading, writing to learn, and metacognitive strategies
      • Work collaboratively with Instructional Specialists in A.C.E.S. to support academic needs of College-in-the-Classroom students
      • Monitor students progress and help keep students on-track
      • Improve literacy achievement of targeted students
      • Ensure literacy “best practices” and reading, writing, thinking in the content area strategies are being used by teachers of College-in-the-Classroom courses, provide consultation upon request.
    Salary, as per contract.

The following position is effective July 1, 2008:

  • College in the Classroom Instructional Specialist Monticello High School Achievement Center (A.C.E.S.) - grades 9-12
    Requirements: NYS Certification in Secondary Education; or equivalent credentials. Knowledge of dual enrollment programs, College-in-the-Classroom, Small Learning Community (SLC), academic intervention strategies, and informational literacy practices
    Responsibilities and Skills:
      • Coordinate College-in-the-Classroom initiative, as Head Teacher
      • Monitor student progress and help keep students on-track
      • Coordinate academic supports when needed; work collaboratively with Literacy Specialist in A.C.E.S.
      • Communicate with parents
      • Grow the program; work with Directors, High School Principal, College Faculty, and teachers to assure appropriate lesson design and project-based approach
      • Liaison between High School and Colleges and Universities
      • Provide instructional technology and information literacy support to students and faculty; consultation with High School staff upon request.
    Salary, as per contract.

The following position is effective February 11, 2008:

  • Earth Science Teacher (Leave Replacement ) - grades 9-12
    Requirements:
    Must be certified in New York State. Living Environment Dual Certification Preferred.

Middle School
The following position is effective immediately:

  • Math Teacher - grades 7-12
    Requirements:
    Must be certified in New York State.

Elementary
The following position is effective immediately:

  • Foreign Language Teacher - Spanish
    Requirements: Must be certified in New York State. Must hold or be eligible to obtain an extension to teach a language other than English in grades 1-6.
     
  • Elementary Teacher
    Requirements: Must be certified in New York State. Literacy and/or Reading Certification Preferred.

Athletics

  • Physical Education Teacher – Elementary
    Requirements: Must be certified in New York State. K-12 Certification. Dual Certification in Health Preferred.

Transportation Department Positions  

The following positions are effective immediately:

  • 10 Month School Bus Driver 
    Requirements:
    Must be at least 21 years of age
    Must currently hold or be able to obtain a CDL class B with P and S endorsement
    Must be able to pass NYS and Federal Criminal History Investigation
    Must be able to pass Federal DOT Medical Examination
    Must be able to pass NYS Department of Education Physical Performance Test
    Will provide paid training for qualified candidates
     
  • 10 Month School Bus Attendant
    Requirements:
    Must be at least 21 years of age
    Current Fingerprint Clearance Certificate or be able to pass NYS Criminal History Investigation
    Must be able to pass NYS Department of Education Physical Performance Test
    Will provide paid training for qualified candidates
