REGULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

BOARD REPORT OUT
C. Patrick Michel reported that he, and Kevin Dirth, Director of Music met with officials from the Gerry Foundation with regard to forming a partnership in music with Monticello Central School District. The Gerry Foundation chose Monticello Central specifically for this partnership. The foundation will continue to build this partnership county-wide. One highlight of this partnership will allow the Monticello students to assist with the professional performances at Bethel Woods.

D.2.a. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Michele Brischoux to the probationary position of Tenure Area, Special Education, at a salary of $42,209, pro-rated, per year, effective September 1, 2007, replacing Brigitte Nesteroke.

D.2.b. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Katlyn La Grutta to the probationary position of Tenure Area, Monticello Enrichment Program Step 2, at a salary of $39,643 pro-rated, per year, effective September 1, 2007, replacing Cyrena DiCio.

D.2.c. RESIGNATION
Tracie Moore, Special Education Teacher at the Rutherford Elementary School wishes to resign effective August 1, 2007.

D.2.d. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Carl Solomon to the probationary position of, Program Evaluator, at a salary of $102,000 pro-rated, per year, effective July 9, 2007. - Deferred

D.2.e. APPOINTMENT
Brigitte Nesteroke, Teacher on Special Assignment: Driver’s Education, effective September 1, 2007.

D.2.f. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Dennis Browne to the position of School Safety Monitor, at a salary of $15.00 per hour for 6.5 hours per day, and 185 days per year, prorated for a probationary period of 60 work days with benefits as per the provided contract, to be effective, September 4, 2007, replacing Joe Liseki.

D.2.g. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Barbara Putzer to the position of Office Aide, at a salary of $12.06 per hour for 6.5 hours per day, and 185 days per year, prorated for a probationary period of 60 work days with benefits as per the Teacher Aide contract, to be effective, September 4, 2007, replacing vacancy by layoff.

D.2.h. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Heather Strauss to the position of Senior Typist, at a salary of $27,000 per year for 7.5 hours per day, and 260 days per year, prorated for a probationary period of not less than 26 weeks, with benefits as per the Secretarial contract, to be effective, August 1, 2007, replacing Mary Witowski.

D.2.i. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Kenneth Wojtak to the position of School Safety Monitor, at a salary of $15.00 per hour for 6.5 hours per day, and 185 days per year, prorated for a probationary period of 60 work days with benefits as per the provided contract, to be effective, September 4, 2007, replacing Carmen Ramos.

D.2.k. APPOINTMENT
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Marie Gott to the probationary position of Tenure Area, Music Teacher, step 1, at a salary of $38,687, pro-rated, per year, effective September 1, 2007. – New Position.

8:0 E.2.a. NEW 504 POSITION
Upon motion by Alyce Van Etten, seconded by Eugene Nesin, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent unanimously approved the New 504 Position of Teacher’s Aide for the Duggan Elementary School.

8:0 E.2.b. APPOINTMENT OF SUBSTITUTE EMPLOYEES
Upon motion by Eugene Nesin, seconded by Liza Glick, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent unanimously approved the 2007-2008 Substitute Employees, as per the attached list.

INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION G.1 Compliance with Section 1708 of New York State Education Law Annual Visit to Schools
Visits will begin again in September. Questions and comments should be sent to Central Office.

G.2. Public Relations – Meeting will take place sometime over the summer break. Goals for public relations will be made during the meeting.

G.3. Facilities Committee – Received the Energy Performance Contract. Will be reviewed, with the needs of health and safety first. Next meeting will be July 18, 2007.

G.4. NYSSBA Convention – Board members forwarded their information to Central Office for registration for the Annual Convention and Educational Trade Show – October 2007.

G.5. Board Retreat Date – Will take place on August 28, 2007.

G.6. Job Descriptions – Professional Staff – Kathleen Pagano-Fuller presented to the Board of Education detailed job descriptions for 12 positions within the District.

G.7. Contract for Excellence (C4E) – Pat Michel and Gladys Baxter will attend an on-line training seminar in Albany on July 11, 2007.

G.8. Reading Assignment – A book was distributed to the Board of Education to read.

G.9. Board and District Goals – Copies were given to the Board of Education to review. Discussion for changes or improvements will be exchanged after the Board Retreat.

Upon Motion to go into Executive Session by Richard Feller, seconded by Vivian Liff at 8:40 p.m. to discuss the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation, or matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, or removal of a particular person or corporation.

Motion to come out of Executive Session at 9:00 p.m. by Jacob Billig, seconded by Yvonne Housman.

Upon motion by Vivian Liff, seconded by Liza Glick, the Board of Education, be it resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby unanimously appoint Carl Solomon to the probationary position of, Program Evaluator, at a salary of $102,000 pro-rated, per year, effective July 9, 2007.

8:0 Upon motion by Jacob Billig, seconded by Richard Feller, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent unanimously appointed Carl Solomon as Records Management Officer.

The Vote count was:

8:0 Upon motion by Jacob Billig, seconded by Yvonne Housman, the Board of Education approved the salary for Dr. Patrick Michel, Superintendent of Schools to be adjusted to $159,200 pro-rated, per year, to be effective July 1, 2007.
