SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – OCTOBER 25, 2005
Location: RJK Middle School Library – 5:00 P.M.

ROLL CALL A Present: Jacob Billig, Richard Feller, Susan Horton,
(left 6:30 P.M.), Eugene Nesin, John Pavese
(arrived 5:05 P.M.) (left 6:30 P.M.), Robert
Rosengard, Robert Stewart, Alyce VanEtten
Absent: Vivian Liff, Joseph Abbraccio
Also Present: Eileen P. Casey, Superintendent of Schools
Patrick Michel, Assistant Superintendent
Gladys P. Baxter, School Business Official


President Alyce VanEtten called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M.

Introduction of Interim High School Principal George Vanderzell

Larry Maurer – transportation appeal
David Wells – transportation appeal

TRANSPORTATION APPEALS

8:0 Upon motion by Robert Stewart, seconded by John Pavese the Board moved to sustain the appeal and establish a stop at 267 East Broadway based on photographic evidence and dialogue that ensued with questions asked and answers provided includ-ing site visits to the location by Board Members.

Mr. David Wells 7:0:1 Upon motion by Eugene Nesin, seconded by John Pavese, the Board moved to sustain the appeal and establish stops on Leonard Road re-routing buses to accommodate the change contingent upon Town of Thompson making improvements and providing maintenance offered; based on questions asked and answers provided including site visits to the location by Board mem-bers.

Anthony Durante – transportation department; student referrals – turnaround time guidelines
Jannette Williams– transportation department; referral process regarding BOCES referral
Peggy Johnson – regarding previous bus stop request and Board denial
David Wells – Asst. Highway Superintendent – Ms. Johnson’s request
Martha Johnson - regarding bus stop request and reason for de-nial
