REGULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – MAY 5, 2005
Location: RJK Middle School Cafeteria – 7:00 P.M.

ROLL CALL A Present: Jacob Billig, Richard Feller, Susan Horton, Vivian Liff (left 10 P.M.), Eugene Nesin, Robert Rosengard, Robert Stewart, Alyce VanEtten (left 10 P.M.)

Absent: John Pavese, Medum Choe

Also Present: Eileen P. Casey, Superintendent of Schools; Robert Falcone, Assistant Superintendent; Gladys P. Baxter, School Business Official 
(left 8:05 P.M.)

The Public Hearing on the 2005-06 Budget began at 7:05 P.M. and ended at 8 P.M.

President Feller called the meeting to order at 8:05 P.M.

QUESTIONS & COMMENTS
B There were no questions and comments.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE
C Medum Choe, student representative, was not present.
PRESENTATIONS
D1 Mr. J. Joseph Hogan, Principal, gave a report card presentation on the George L. Cooke School.

D2 Mrs. Kim Patterson, Principal, gave a report card presentation on the K.L. Rutherford School.

MINUTES Ea
6:0 Upon motion by Robert Stewart, seconded by Robert Rosengard, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approved the minutes of the April 28, 2005 meeting.

PERSONNEL F2a
6:0 Upon motion by Jacob Billig, seconded by Susan Horton, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approved the following personnel items:

APPOINTMENTS Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Monticello Central School District, pursuant to Section 3012 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, does hereby appoint Joyce E. Wells to a probationary position in the Academic Tenure Area – Music, effective February 1, 2005 to February 1, 2008, at a salary of $37,459, replacing Micia Losee. 

The attached lists were appointed for positions in the Summer Reading Academy and Summer Learning Academy.

TENURE APPOINTMENT Mr. Steven Duarte – Special Subject Tenure Area – Education of Children with Handicapping Conditions (9/1/02-9/1/05)

RESIGNATIONS Ms. Doris E. Motl, Grade 4 Teacher at Rutherford School, wishes to resign effective July 1, 2006, for the purpose of retirement. Ms. Motl is entitled to all benefits of the Monticello Teachers’ Association/Monticello Central School District Negotiated Agreement for which she is eligible.

Mr. Harold Johnson, Middle School Mathematics Teacher, wishes to resign effective July 1, 2006, for the purpose of retirement. Mr. Johnson is entitled to all benefits of the Monticello Teachers’ Association/Monticello Central School District Negotiated Agreement for which he is eligible.

Mrs. Joan F. Langham, Middle School Mathematics Teacher, wishes to resign effective July 1, 2006, for the purpose of retirement. Mrs. Langham is entitled to all benefits of the Monticello Teachers’ Association/Monticello Central School District Negotiated Agreement for which she is eligible.

Mr. Martin Banner, High School Music Teacher, wishes to resign effective July 1, 2006, for the purpose of retirement. Mr. Banner is entitled to all benefits of the Monticello Central School District Negotiated Agreement for which he is eligible.

Ms. Monica Montoya, Rutherford School Teacher Aide, wishes to resign effective April 29, 2005.

Mr. Bruce Brownoll, Cafeteria, wishes to resign effective March 11, 2005.

COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION F2b

Upon motion by Jacob Billig, seconded by Robert Stewart, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approved the attached CSE Services.

CPSE SERVICES F2c There were no CPSE Services.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR GRADE 55 SAFETY NET F2d

Upon motion by Susan Horton, seconded by Robert Rosengard, the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approved the first reading of the requirements to qualify for grade 55 safety net.
